Speakers’ Profiles
Jeffrey C. Thomson, CMA, CAE, President and CEO, Institute of Management Accountants (IMA)
Jeffrey C. Thomson, CMA, CAE, is president and CEO of IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants).
Since assuming this position in 2008, Thomson led the development of a strategy resulting in IMA
becoming one of the fastest-growing accounting associations in the world, with nearly 30% growth
in its CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) program and more than 300 student and professional chapters. Currently, IMA has more than 75,000 members in 140 countries.

Under his leadership, IMA Global Core Values were introduced to reinforce the association’s reputation as a trustworthy organization dedicated to enhancing careers, organizations, and the public
interest. These values, which include respect for the individual, passion for serving members, highest standards of integrity and trust, innovation and continuous improvement, and teaming to achieve, apply to IMA staff and volunteer leaders around the world.

Prior to joining IMA, Thomson worked at AT&T for more than two decades, where he served in
various financial, strategic, and operational roles. In his last position at AT&T, he served as the CFO
for business sales, an $18 billion revenue operation. At AT&T, he was responsible for many “firsts,”
including implementing activity-based costing, performance dashboards, and a competitive analysis capability.

Thomson holds an M.S. degree in statistics from Montclair State University, received a certificate
in finance and accounting from the Wharton School, and completed the Columbia University Senior Executive Leadership Program.                                                                In 2008, he participated in the MIT Sloan School of Management Certificate Program in Innovation.                                                                                                                           He holds the CMA and Certified Association Executive (CAE) credentials.

Thomson was honored by Accounting Today by being included in the publication’s annual “Top
100 Most Influential People List” in 2010, 2012, 2013, and 2014. He was also named by Trust
Across America as one of the “Top 100 Thought Leaders in Trustworthy Business Behavior” for the
past four years in a row. The Accountant/International Accounting Bulletin recognized Thomson in
its Global Accountancy Power 50 list of leading influencers.

Mr. Loay Ahmed Al Nakhal, MBA
Mr. Al Nakhal earned Master of Business Administration and Bachelor Degree in Computer Science. He
has 20 years of work experience in field of IT development, training, management, and excellency.

He worked in different organizations, such as Ministry of Health, American University of Sharjah and for
the past 7 years at Dubai Municipality, leading and participating in various projects.

He has been selected as one of the leading ambassadors of Dubai Municipality. Loay is a member of IT
Department Award Committee. Mr. Al Nakhal’s projects were awarded with Gitex The Best Government
Projects in Cloud Computing 2014, and Dubai Municipality Best Project for Feasible Ideas in Conferences
and Exhibitions of 2014, and Best Learning Project from American Ideas Award 2010.

park at al Khaleej school’s parking lot and use the shuttle bus to reach the RTA headquarter’s building
Get an electronic pass to access the elevators of Block B from the main reception by providing proper ID
Go to Block B elevators, and swipe to pass the gates and go to the 2nd floor
On the second floor follow the signs to the auditorium
Sign (IN/out) with your IMA membership ID at the IMA registration desk for
each session you attend.


Note: IMA/RTA  volunteers will be at the reception to show the directions.
